My what car would you buy in 1991 post has been up for an hour now and not a single person has said they would buy a 91 Miata. I have therefore come to the conclusion that the Miata is a hairdressers car and the real answer for everything is a Corvette because that answer has common up multiple times in ever single one of my “what car would you buy when” posts when the car was actually made.
Long live the Corvette. The new answer to everything.

It’s simply because the Miata isn’t the best car from 1991.

I think you’ve known this all along.

I’m perfectly ok with this.
I like the Miata, and if I was on a limited budget I’d get one and enjoy it. But if money wasn’t an issue I’d much rather have a Corvette.

Id so buy a 91 Miata..but your post cites the word “new” and negates any budget restrictions so a NSX is the obvious answer

So what you’re saying is...
Corvette is always the answer.

Nothing is true.

Corvette is a good answer

Is the Miata the kind of car someone buys if they are given an opportunity to buy any car the want when they have unlimited means?
I see the Miata as a fall back option. Sort of like that degree in management a pro football player might put to use once he retires at age 30.
Lookin at you Calvin Johnson. Much love.

I figured somebody would bring up the miata eventually, but I was surprised nobody had brought it up.
I guess if there were no budget restictions, one would find way more 1991 NSX’s than miatas.

Well if you think about buying a ‘91 Miata, the first thought that comes to mind is how cheap you can find a clean one now. So the thought of buying one for like $20k in ‘90s money sounds asinine when you can get essentially the same car in like new condition for just a tad over $5k in now money. And they aren’t exactly rare so you would be much better off picking up something you wouldn’t likely find anymore.

Corvette, Only Real Vehicle Essential To Take Everywhere.
Doesn’t really roll off the tongue as well as M.I.A.T.A.

I almost bought a manual C4, but ended up with a Miata that was already set up for track use by a taller person (Kirkey seat bolted to the floor). Surprisingly, it seems to have more leg room than a C4 I had test driven that also had a fixed racing seat installed. Wringing every ounce of momentum from the 1.8 pairs nicely with communicative steering and makes for an engaging drive, though not a thrilling one in the same way as a Corvette.

Really both are great picks you can't go wrong with either
